dr-mel-levine.JPGDR MEL LEVINE will present a two workshop preconference institute at the European Council of International Schools (ECIS) November 2007 Conference in Madrid, Spain. The institute will be entitled: What We are Learning about Learning and the Differences between Learners: Childhood neurodevelopmental function and its implications for children’s educations

Dr Mel Levine will be describing the latest knowledge regarding “brain wiring” and how children and adolescents meet or fall short of academic demands. He will describe different phenomena that can be observed and dealt with by classroom teachers on a daily basis. He will present his model of learning so that teachers can perform “exploratory surgery” on their expectations at the same time that they work toward strengthening the unique strengths of individual learners. The presentation will include multiple examples, updates on neuroscientific research that can have a bearing on learning, and practical suggestions for the management of variation within a classroom.
